It’s true. Training is over! This morning I had my oral Kiswahili test which marked the official end of training. And I’m so ready to get to Karatu, settle into my nyumba, and get to work in Tanzania. Training went well but after site announcements we all got pretty burnt out and our energy was redirected to preparing for our site rather than finishing up our training. We’ve hardly spoken any Kiswahili over the past two and a half weeks and it’ll be nice to immerse ourselves once again and give our language skills another jump start.
Sunday we travel to Dar for a few rather uneventful administrative sessions and Wednesday we officially swear-in as Peace Corps Volunteers. Thanksgiving we’ll be traveling to our sites, so think of me while you’re enjoying your pumpkin pie because I’ll definitely be thinking of pumpkin pie.
